Ever since Netflix released the documentary "Making a Murderer" in December, numerous fans of the show have been calling for Steven Avery to be released from prison. The series overwhelmingly presents Avery as an innocent man. However, the show's producers can't say that Avery is innocent or guilty, and here is why.
Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi are the producers of the smash hit documentary "Making a Murderer," a project that took 10 years to film and put together. As the documentary presents the facts of the case, it appears that a gross miscarriage of justice has occurred, and an innocent man is rotting away in a prison cell. However, Demos and Ricciardi have made it clear that they cannot say if Steven Avery is truly innocent or if he is guilty of the murder of Teresa Halbach. In an interview with "The Daily Beast," Demos said, "What I learned from making this series is the humility to accept that I don't know, and I may never know." She went on to say, "Just because you have questions doesn't mean that you're going to get an answer. If you're so committed to finding the truth and finding the answer, it's very hard to be comfortable with ambiguity and you'll often settle, just for some finality."
